About the Friends of the Byes

The Friends of the Byes was formed in 2010 with the aim to increase biodiversity in this large piece of parkland. Working with councils, National Trust and other community organisations the group have overseen many changes over the years. This has included creating a community orchard and planting several copses. “Green corridoors” have been introduced to encourage wildlife through planting native hedges and a continuous programme of tree planting has been maintained. Recent developments have included the introduction of wildflower areas.
