Bat recording

For 3 nights in June we set up specialist bat recording equipment in the Byes This had been loaned from Devon Wildlife Trust as part of a Devon wide bat survey.Serotine

Numbers recorded over the 3 nights:

Brandt’s Bat  4
Daubenton’s Bat  24
Common Pipistrelle 626
SopranoPipistrelle.766
Lesser Horseshoe Bat 12
Serotine  5

We will continue to monitor the bat population in the Byes and as we increase the number of Bat Roosts we will se if this has any impact on bat numbers or it may be part of a general decline in bat numbers which speculation may include climate change,  decline in food source availability and habitat loss.
