Volunteer with us

Everything we do relies on volunteers

The Friends of the Byes rely on people giving their free time to help. We are always looking out for new members and have a number of volunteer positions which you may be interested in taking up. We are a friendly, enthusiastic group and welcome new helpers.

We receive no financial support for the work we do and rely on donations and applying for grants. If you have skills or interests in this area we would love to hear from you.

Habitat creation
Nature needs all the help it can get. We need people who have woodwork skills who can help make nest boxes , bat boxes, bug huts etc.

Administration
We need admin support behind the scenes, supporting meetings, maintaining jobs lists and keeping members up to date.

Education
Supporting our work sharing this unique environment with schools and community groups.

Wildlife Corridor

A wildlife corridor is being developed surrounding the community orchard.

Riverfly Training

Riverflies are sensitive to pollution and changes on their river. This means that monitoring their presence, abundance and diversity on a regular basis is a useful way to assess the water quality of a river. Training to monitor their presence will provide key information on the state of the river Sid
